General Information |
PROJECT OBJECTIVE
The objective of the project is to decongest Delhi and to relocate the industries
in approved industrial estates. The goal is also to reduce
environmental pollution in residential areas and to provide environment frendly
condition in alternative localities.
National Capital Territory of Delhi has emerged as one of the biggest
centres of small-scale industries in the country. The poor quality of environment
created by devlorable sanitary conditinos e.g. open stinking drans, choked sewers
and the polluted effluent waste affecting the health of the people is largely due to uncontrolled / unauthorised development of industrial units. The poor management as well as tardy implementation of development plans further leads to grave problems of traffic and transportation in the city
and mis-utilisation of land use. |
PROJECT BACKGROUND
The Supreme Court of India in its order dated 19.04.1996 in I.A. No. 22 in Civil Writ Petition No. 4677 85 M.C. Mehta Vs. Union of India and others has observed that under the Master Plan
of Delhi-20001, non-residential activities in the residential premises are permitted only under certain conditions as laid down in Master Plan. With a view to to ensure that the provisions of the Master Plan are compiled with a "High Power Commitee" has also been constituted.
The commitee received 43,045 application for grant of permission to operate from their existing locations. Out of these only 376 applicants were considered eligible for grand of permission. In this situation The Govt. of NCT of Delhi has taken steps for acquisition of land and for development of industrial
estates for relocation of industrial units operating in the resentail / non-conforming areas.
DSIIDC has appointed a consortium consisting of RITES Ltd., Architect Bureau, Redecon and Tetra Tech for development of acquired land with Industrial estates at Bawana and Holambi Kalan.
